110g butter

1tsp salt

You will also need two large mixing bowls, wooden spoon, baking tray,glass/heatproof bowl, chopping board, knives (for chopping), set of scales, whisk, jug and large saucepan.

  6. In separate bowl mix flour, salt and baking powder. Add to main mixture.
  7. Stir together well
  8. Place on greased baking tray
  9. Bake for about 30mins ( outside should be crisp and inside sticky)
  10. Leave to cool and serve
------------------------------------------------------------------

Try this out and let me know if it went well?!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are allergic to nuts use an alternative to walnuts to spice up the batch ;)

------------------------------------------------------------------

Sweet like chocolate...

First off a little bit of science and history...

-----------------------------------

Where does this marvelous substance come from?

The Spanish conquered the
Aztecs in South America and discovered that coco beans were used as a form of currency. The Aztecs made cocoa beans into a hot bitter tasting drink.

When chocolate arrived in
Spain it was sweetened with sugar and vanilla. This started the chocolate craze.

Solid chocolate was developed in England (one more thing we are fabulous for) and the Swiss refined it, inventing milk chocolate.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's in it that makes it irresistible?

Chocolate contains a substance called
phenylethlyamine (yeah I don't have a clue how to pronounce this) a substance that promotes a feeling of euphoria
. Similar to how you feel when you're in love <3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strange info about chocolate..

  • Chocolate has also long been associated with love.
  • Once Nuns were forbidden to eat it because of it's sexual reputation! Imagine that?!
  • Also in the 18th Century French doctors prescribed chocolate to women with a broken heart...:)
  • Chocolate is poisonous to dogs because of the chemical Theobromine .

  • Chocolate contains Flavonoids, a biological component from plants that can lower the risk of heart disease.
  • People spend over £6billion pounds a year on chocolate - That is some serious addiction!

rock around the clock

Presenting....
The HARVEY WALLBANGER.

The second installment of my cocktail concoction list.

----------------------------------------------------

First a little history lesson me thinks...
This drink is said to be named after a surfer who, after a few too many drinks kept bumping into the walls of the bar.
Believe it or not?! It's comical anyway :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

So here are the ingredients

1 fl oz (30ml) Vodka
1/2 fl oz (15ml) Galliano
Orange juice

1.Fill tall glass with ice cubes.
2.Pour the vodka and orange juice in.
3.Using the back of a spoon float the Galliano on top.
4. Garnish with slice of orange
5.Enjoy!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have tried this let me know your marks out of 10?

The weekend..

There once was a very spoiled woman...
-------------------------------------------------

As you may remember or chose not to remember, it was Valentines day on Saturday.
This is my personal space and I feel the need to gloat.. (SORRY)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

My Jake picked me up in his sexy sexy car and we had the most FABULOUS weekend together.

He got me 'sex and the City' season boxset AND the film.
Whilst waiting for his brother to get over his hangover we ventured round ASDA.
This entailed buying a further 25 DVD's and yummy food for the night.

Being the oh so brilliant cook I made a tagliatelle carbonara which was generally enjoyed. We just relaxed, played lips and watched a film.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was perfect in every way.

Crikey..

So as I promised the search for cocktail concoction kit commenced (gosh that's hard to say) today...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought ha I will be smart and look on the internet and it will be no hassle what so ever...
How very wrong indeed...
Search engines can be very useful but you have to watch out what you put in exactly.
You can imagine the shock when I wanted to view a "slippery nipple" and got several images of actual slippery nipples in somewhat compromising positions...
It was indeed fun for the first 500 images-I'm still unsure of the real receipe!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I mentioned before it's an expensive business being a cocktail connoisseur. But good ol' Tesco did prevail with a few of the answers. 'Sexy glasses' aka those posh ones nice bars put your Cosmo in....I found out they are called Conical wine glasses...soooo will defo be able to score a few of them! :D RESULT!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The downside to my story is the actual booze is going to be costly...maybe it's the student inside me screeeeeaming not to keep spending my preciously earned pennies or I might just be tight...
Still the cheapest (nice vodka not paint stripper substitute) was around £15 for 1 Litre...and then the triple sec for a teeny weeny couldn't even make 5 Cosmos was £6

After that I just couldn't stay amongst the spirits any longer I was pining for bevvy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
So I am still searching to be honest and will try and stretch my purse strings that little bit further..
Until I find that perfect shop-Poundland for wino's- I will keep searching.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The concoctions begin

The search for all the ingredients needed to create the most fab cocktail COSMOPOLITAN.

It is harder than you think...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly..
I need a cocktail shaker-( I'm not just stirring them in a jug) would have been fine 8 weeks ago but now i suppose everyone is flippin' teetotal...
SHAME ON YOU.

Secondly..
There are a lot of different ingredients- Tesco will be sold out of lemons and cranberry juice soon! I'm not Michelin woman with massive muscles-vodka is heavy after the first mile.

Thirdly..
Where in the universe can i get those sexy cocktail glasses? No doubt M&S will sell diamond encrusted ones.
(who has a spare £50?)

Fourthly..
With all this cold weather aka snow I will undoubtedly get strange looks buying icecube trays..(I should be used to this by now)

ANYONE who wishes to donate either;
a) cocktail shaker
b) muscular man
c) sexy glasses
d) lots of money

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Do not be afraid to contact me and for your kind, generous nature may receive a bevvy or 2 as payment...?

Love is in the air

First a little lesson about where it all came from...

The history of St.Valentine has been surrounded by mystery for centuries.
The time of year is closely linked with romance, love and fertility.
The first official Valentines day was in 496, declared by Pope Galasius in memory of a martyed priest in Rome.
He was known for betraying Emperor Claudius for performing secret weddings for young lovers, some were as young as twelve.
Bishop Valentine believed that marriage was a part of Gods plan.
He continued all in the name of love.
He was jailed and beheaded, but not before falling in love with the jailer's daughter.
It is believed that on the eve of his execution he gave her a note saying "from your Valentine".
This is where the tradition spread from.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
With Valentine's Day this Saturday many of us are stressed out. You may have that special person and feel pressurised to get that perfect present.
If you are free and single you may feel hassled by 'loved up' couples flaunting it everywhere. Whichever path you are currently on you can enjoy yourself by indulging in life's simple pleasures.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Couples

Thoughtful gifts and gestures will be appreciated more than splashing out on expensive gadgets and gifts.

  • Don't feel under pressure to buy cards, wrap, balloons and all the other commercial 'junk' shops offer.
  • A hand made card is always appreciated-you can choose exactly what you want to say.
  • What really makes your partner tick? Find their ultimate vice and surprise them.(Chocolate, Jack Daniels, DVD's with Johnny Depp or even Spongebob Squarepants!)
  • Cook a simple meal-it costs less than a tenner to make a smashing spaghetti Bolognese.
  • Sounds so 'high school' but make them a C.D- you can put songs that are relevant to your relationship (first time you met) or just their favourite artists. Guaranteed to raise a smile and maybe more ;)

IT'S THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS not the pounds in your pocket.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Free 'n' Single?

Don't feel like you have to find some one for the big VDAY-so dont jump on the first person who pays you any attention.

  •  It's not just for couples. Enjoy your freedom and celebrate life! Go and have some cocktails!!
  • Spend time with your best mates let them know how special they are.
  •  Don't over overboard to show up those couples. A night in with a DVD and a bag of popcorn can be as much fun as hitting the town.
  • If there is some one you have your eye on MAKE A BLOODY MOVE already! There's no time like the present ehy?(they can only say "well i don't feel the same" which means you can find someone else and move on...?)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Valentines day is not the only time to express your love and care for someone.
Tell your boyfriend, girlfriend or best friend
EVERYDAY
that you love them and love their company.
